Cookie Policy (UK)
Last updated: 24 July 2026
1. About this policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Business Route ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on this website (businessrout.com). It should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions. It applies to visitors in the United Kingdom and reflects our obligations under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files a website places on your device. This policy also covers similar browser storage such as localStorage, which we use in place of cookies for a couple of small preferences. Whether a piece of information is stored as a cookie or in local storage, the same consent rules apply.
3. What we use, and why
We only use a small number of first-party items. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not currently run any third-party analytics or tracking on this site.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | localStorage (first-party) | Keeps our editors signed in to the admin area between visits. Only set once a user signs in. | Until sign-out | Strictly necessary |
| br_consent_v1 | localStorage (first-party) | Records your cookie choice so we don't ask you again on every visit. | Persistent (until you clear it) | Strictly necessary |
| br_newsletter_prompt_v1 | localStorage (first-party) | Remembers that you've dismissed or completed our newsletter popup, so we don't show it every time you visit. | Persistent (until you clear it) | Preferences (optional) |
Our authentication provider may also set short-lived cookies as part of the sign-in flow. These are strictly necessary for signing in and are not used for tracking.
4. Legal basis
- Strictly necessary items are used on the basis of the "strictly necessary" exemption under PECR: they are essential to deliver the service you asked for (viewing the site, staying signed in, remembering your consent choice) and do not require consent.
- Preferences items are only used with your consent, which you give (or withhold) via our cookie banner or preferences dialog. You can change your mind at any time.
5. Third parties
We do not use third-party advertising or marketing cookies. We do not currently run analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or similar. If that ever changes, this policy and our consent banner will be updated first and we will ask for your consent before any such cookies are set.
6. Managing your choices
You can review or change your preferences at any time using our preferences dialog:
You can also clear cookies and site data at any time through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary items may prevent parts of the site (in particular the admin sign-in) from working, but the public content will remain fully readable.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Where changes are material we will refresh the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
